WHO LIVES AT THE ZOO?


Black swan



 Age: 15 years

 Height: About 3 feet

 Weight: About 9 pounds

 Born: Fort Wayne Children's Zoo

 In the wild: They live in shallow areas of lakes, rivers and marshes in southern Australia.

 Family: Mothers lay 4-7 eggs, which hatch in 32-36 days. Parents raise the babies together. Babies stay with their parents for one year.

 Food: In the wild, water plants and small animals. At the zoo, trout chow, grain and vegetables.

 Fun fact: These swans are good swimmers, but they don't dive underwater.
