In the wild: Live in grassy areas, brush and forests in eastern Australia.

Family: Babies, called joeys, are 2 inches long at birth. The joey crawls into a pouch on its mother's belly to drink milk and grow.

Food: In the wild, grass. At the zoo, grass, hay, carrots and apples.

Fun fact: When hopping fast, kangaroos can jump 40 feet in one hop.
