 Age: 11 years

 Height: 26 inches from beak to tail

 Weight: About 2 pounds

 Born: Fort Wayne Children's Zoo

 In the wild: They live in forests in Mexico and northwestern South America. The birds are threatened by people capturing them to keep or to sell as pets.

 Family: Mothers lay 2-4 eggs, which hatch within 28 days. Mothers take care of the babies.

 Food: In the wild, fruits, seeds and nuts. At the zoo, parrot biscuits, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole-wheat bread and pasta.

 Fun fact: A military macaw can live to be 60 years old. That's an old bird!
